ANNUAL EYE AND VISION WELLNESS EXAM
Annual comprehensive eye exams are essential for monitoring current vision and ocular health as well as preventing serious eye diseases. Patients can have their first eye exam as early as 6 months old to check for signs that may cause a “lazy eye” in a near future. It is crucial for our patients over the age of 50 to be examined annually because they have higher chances of developing blinding eye diseases such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and retina diseases.
A comprehensive eye exam includes but not limited to visual acuity, binocularity, eye muscle, and pupillary reaction testing, refraction for glasses prescription, evaluation of the front and back of the eye, intraocular pressure measurement, and visual field screening. During a comprehensive exam if an ocular disease, such as conjunctivitis, cataracts, or glaucoma, is diagnosed, treatment and management using the medical model will follow.
CONTACT LENS EVALUATION
Contact lenses are a great way to correct your vision. Contacts give you more natural vision and full field of view since they are worn directly on the eye. Most patients can wear contacts part time or full time. If you’re interested please let us and the doctor know. The doctor will determine the most appropriate contacts for your needs. Our doctors fit soft, gas-permeable (hard), hybrid, scleral and ortho-k lenses.
MYOPIA CONTROL VISITS
Are for patients who develop myopia (nearsightedness) at an early age (before the age of 12). Our young myopes are cared for every 6 months to track progression and treated appropriately. New myopia control treatment options are Ortho-K (with CRT lenses), soft multifocal contact lenses (MiSight), and Atropine eye drops. Myopia control visits are in additional to annual comprehensive eye exams.
MEDICAL OFFICE VISITS
Medical office visits are needed when there are sudden onset of new visual or eye symptoms like dry eyes, floaters, red eye, pain, tearing, vision loss, etc. They are also for monitoring chronic conditions like meibomian gland dysfunction, ocular surface disease, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.
